Updating FocalPoint from Version 2.54 to Version 2.55

 

See below instructions to update FocalPoint from Version 2.54 to Version 2.55. Should problems arise while you are updating your server or workstations, you are welcome to call Visum support. After hours support is certainly available if you are attempting to update after hours, but if you plan to update after-hours we ask that you try to keep after hours update activities limited to before 8:00PM central time, Monday through Thursday. If you need to update outside of these days/hours, or if this is your first update and you just want to give us a heads up, or if you are unable to update your own system, please notify Visum support so that we can make arrangements as needed. 763.244.8055 or support@visum-corp.com.

Before you start

•It is always best to make sure that your PC's are in good shape before updating any software on them. For best results:

•Reboot all PC's prior to updating. Doing so will clear out any residual FocalPoint processes that might be running in the background from previous abnormal exits.

•Make sure Windows updates are current on all PC's.

•Use a supported operating system. Any issues that are suspected to be caused by unsupported versions of Windows will need to be addressed first by updating to a supported, updated version of Windows.

oMicrosoft has ended support of Windows 7.

oFocalPoint has never been supported on Windows HOME operating systems, which is specified in the proposal and first document sent to all new customers. If you are able to update FocalPoint using a HOME version of Windows, feel free to do so and use FocalPoint after updated. At some point, however, FocalPoint will not be able to be updated in a Windows HOME environment.

 

Start at the server!!!

 

1.Open up a web browser

2.Download FocalPoint Software Version 2.55

3.Download FocalPoint Manager Version 2.55

 

Update the FocalPoint Manager

1.From wherever you downloaded the files, open and run FocalPtSvr_2.55.0004

2.Accept the EULA -> Click Next

3.Create a desktop shortcut -> Click Next

4.Click Install

5.At the final install screen, click Finish

6.Click “Yes” to upgrade the FocalPoint database.

7.Click “OK” to close any open connections.

8.Click “Next Update” after each database progress screen.

9.Click OK at the Restarting FocalPoint Services screen.

10.Once the FocalPoint Server Manager screen opens, click on the Updates icon. Sync 3rd Party Installs and Check for Updates. Follow the same process you would follow for installing hot-patches should any updates be found.

11.Minimize or close the FocalPoint Manager

 

Update FocalPoint Software

1.From wherever you downloaded the files, open and run FocalPt_2.55.0004.exe

2.Accept the EULA -> Click Next

3.Create a desktop shortcut -> Click Next

4.Click Install

5.At the final install screen, click Finish, leaving the checkbox checked to open FocalPoint.

6.Log in to test.

 

Once the server is complete, update all other PC’s

1.Open FocalPoint Software.

2.You will be prompted that there is a new version.

3.Follow all prompts to agree to update.

4.Open FocalPoint when complete.
