C-7 from the Main Menu

Objective:

Learn about FocalPoint security.  You don't have to set it up now but you will need to know about this.

The Security Groups and Areas screen is shown below.  To make changes to security, you must be logged in as FPAdmin or a user that has “Administrators” security.

SecurityListScreen

You will see 6 different security groups set up for you.  Please understand that the Back Office, Executives, Front Counter, Store Managers and Technicians groups are simply suggestions to help you set up effective security at your store without having to start from scratch. You may certainly create different security groups as needed.  The existing security groups may not be deleted or inactivated. No changes can be made to the “Administrators” security group.

The “Assigned Users” column will show all users that are currently associated with the highlighted security group.

The “Area Security” column will show which areas of FocalPoint the security group has access to. If any of these areas require PCI/PA-DSS compliancy, any users that have access to the area will be subject to the PCI/PA-DSS password restrictions specified previously.

In prior versions of FocalPoint, you would need to first set up security levels, and then go into each user record to assign the security level.  In version 2.50 and above, you can assign users to security groups from this screen. However, you can still assign security from the user file if this is your preference.

To add your own security groups, click on the Add New Group button.  To add users to a group, click on the Add User to Group button.

Note: For customers that are using integrated credit card functionality, user that have access to the following security areas will be required to frequently change their passwords. This is a requirement of PCI PA-DCC compliancy:

Administrative > Security Groups > Add/Edit

Administrative > Security Groups > Change Area Access

Administrative > System Event Log > Clear/Purge

Administrative > Users > Add Users

Administrative > Users > Assign Security Groups

Administrative > Users > Change Passwords

Administrative > Users > Enable/Disable

Administrative > Users > Reset Lockout

Management > Store Controls > /POS Configuration
